Perfect distance
Detriti Gallery, Göteborg jan/feb 2025

Exhibition text:

In her artistic practice, Persson combines ceramics, wood, metal, alabaster and other materials in sculptures and installations. Her work focuses on how the world never quite allows itself to be fully explained, how it rather shows to be more complex the more we reveal.

By exploring a diverse range of materials, the artist creates objects that invite contemplation, drawing attention to how we navigate our physical, intellectual, and emotional landscapes.

Too close, and the flood of details would overwhelm and distort our vision; too far, and detachment would blur everything into vagueness. It is within this fragile distance that clarity and mystery intertwine.

Through her work, Amelie Persson seeks to inhabit this “perfect distance,” exploring the fragile boundary between knowing and not knowing, between what we see and what lies just beyond reach.
